BLACKWATER CRIMes

Intentions

Investigate

Deduce

History accuracy

Blackwater crimes is a narrative investigation mobile game. The player embodies a detective who works for the Chicago police.

He will explore different places to find clues and asks to his contacts some help to show up criminals.

I personnaly did the narrative part of the game. I wrote all the investigations, with the different connections between the clues, the characters and the choices that the player can make.

Here an exemple of my graph for the links between clues. (It's a very little part of the whole thing)

Story telling

I learned to write a story for a video game. Think all the events to help the player, to create a certain feeling, a real storyline to keep player immersed.

As the scenarist and narrative designer, I did a lot of rescearch on the 20' Chicago, the police and its inner working.
The history accuracy is one of our wishes. Our fictionals characters lives in the true Chicago of the late 20'.

I took a real pleasure make my story alive in this universe and by the work of the others members of the team.

What I learned

Narrative design

Once the story was written, we needed to adapt it for the gameplay. I learned to modify the mechanics to fit with the scenario and vice versa.

Dialogue designer

I learned to write dialogues for a game, in order to put clues in it, to give just the good amount of informations to keep the player and make him want to know the rest of the  plot.

The whole team
